Autism Spectrum

Created during Autism Acceptance Month in April 2025, this 3D piece uses a fictional electronic device to represent the diversity of the autism spectrum.

The controls correspond to traits often associated with autism. Turning a dial changes the central display, representing how traits can present at different intensities and combinations from person to person.

Design references came from devices such as DJ controllers and handheld consoles. The reveal animation was styled like a product advertisement.

Drivers linked each dial’s Z rotation to colour mixing on the screen, allowing the display colours and matching labels and lights to change automatically as the controls turned.

The piece was modelled, textured and animated in Blender and rendered with Cycles.
