Kelpie

This Blender sculpt depicts a Kelpie, the shapeshifting water creature from Scottish and Irish mythology that is often represented as a horse.

I began from horse anatomy, then added a tail, fins and other aquatic features to make the creature feel at home underwater.

After blocking out the main forms, I refined the sculpt with details such as gills and fins and animated the fins using deform modifiers.

The final scene uses an underwater HDRI, animated camera movement and Cycles rendering.
